LIBYA RETURNEES IN AGRI-PROJECT, GLORIFY GOD
It is not all the time that people who are deported back to their countries with nothing but their limbs, become an integral part of their local economies. Often times, they are bitter and become a menace to their societies – robbing and killing because they don’t care, forgetting that God loves all and is the Provider.
Well, the Sunday service witnessed a rare group of people who, after being detained in Libya for years, returned to Nigeria in January this year and had wasted no time in their desire to become responsible members of their communities. They have acquired land and invested in agriculture – an initiative that will erase their poverty and that of their communities.
The returnees were a negative product of the Libyan war a couple of years ago. Like many, they found themselves stranded in the war-torn country and put in jail where they languished. After all efforts to get help from government had failed, they sent an urgent message to Prophet T.B. Joshua, stating that they were in need of his intervention. The Prophet indeed intervened and they were released and brought back to Nigeria.
Upon their return, they organized themselves and made a courtesy call to The SCOAN to glorify God over their freedom and to seek a prayer from the man of God. Prophet T.B. Joshua prayed for them and went further to bless them with Anointing Water, bags of rice and financial assistance of N100,000 to each of the returnees (a total of four million naira). He advised them to properly use the money to settle down and establish themselves as responsible citizens.
On Sunday, the returnees walked into the church with their heads held high to appreciate God for what He continues to do in their lives. They said that after their encounter with the man of God, they had gone back to Edo, Nigeria and asked the government for permission to start a commercial farm. In answer to their prayers, they were granted 17,666 hectares of land where they opened a skills development farm, employing and training others in their community on their farm.
They brought photographs of the farm, the products grown on the farm, and a gift of 220 litres of oil which was produced on their farm, which they called their first fruits.
“As we speak, we are established farmers. We came back from Libya and we now contribute to the development of our country. This well-refined and purified cooking oil we have brought here is a product of our own hands. It is our gift to the church in appreciation to Prophet T.B. Joshua over the great work he is doing for us, the youth of nations around the world,” said one of their leaders.
He advised people to believe in God so that they can be established and also in His prophet so that they may prosper. The man of God then promised to send a team to inspect the land and discuss with them what they needed to continue and expand their endeavour. As the Bible teaches us, the only way to commit more faith and love into the society of which we are a part, is to spend more on others and less on ourselves.
